[Basketball] NAIA All-Americans Announced

The GSAC had several athletes earn NAIA All-America honors in men's and women's basketball. NAIA Champion Westmont's Tugce Cantiez and Coach Kirsten Moore were named the NAIA Div. I Women's Basketball Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that over 180 Division I men's and women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2012-13 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

[Basketball] GSAC Sends Seven Teams to NAIA Championships

A total of seven teams from the Golden State Athletic Conference have qualified for the NAIA Div. I Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Tournaments. As GSAC Tournament Champions, the No. 8 Vanguard women and the No. 23 Concordia men have received the GSAC's automatic berth to their respective national tournaments. No. 4 Westmont and No. 10 The Master's receive at-large berths to the women's tournament, and on the men's side No. 11 Westmont, No. 16 Hope International, and No. 19 Arizona Christian will be heading to nationals.

The GSAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament Finals take place at CU Arena at Concordia tonight, March 5, and will be televised live on Fox College Sports and Prime Ticket for the first time in conference history.

[Basketball] Supervisor of Officials John Dangleis Honored

Longtime Supervisor of Officials John Dangleis was honored at the GSAC All-Sports meeting at Vanguard University, Sept. 9. Dangleis served as the GSAC's supervisor of basketball officials since the conference's inaugural 1986-87 season until he passed away earlier this year. John's wife Sue (below left), daughter Dore, and his son Dave (below center), who is the current supervisor of officials for the conference, were recognized on his behalf by GSAC Commissioner Mike Daniels (below right) and former commissioner Dr. Cliff Hamlow.
