GSAC Players of the Week October 15, 2007   WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER LIZZY BENDRICK ~ California Baptist University Freshman ~ 5-2 ~ Forward ~ San Diego, California Freshman Lizzy Bendrick recorded a goal and an assist as unranked California Baptist won both of its GSAC games last week.  She assisted on the game-winner at No. 5-ranked Point Loma Nazarene.  Bendrick then scored the game-winner against Fresno Pacific with a 30-yard shot over the keeper. Bendrick was selected as the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER SUZANNE TORRES ~ Concordia University Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Riverside, California Junior goalkeeper Suzanne Torres made 15 saves and didn't allow a goal as No. 10-ranked Concordia registered a win and a tie in GSAC play last week.  In the win against No. 18 Vanguard, she made 3 saves while recording a 4-0 shutout.  In the 0-0 double-overtime tie at Westmont, Torres had 12 saves in 84 minutes of play.  Torres was named the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.   MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER ADRIAN ALVARADO ~ Fresno Pacific University Senior ~ 5-9 ~ Midfielder ~ Strathmore, California Senior midfielder Adrian Alvarado scored 3 goals as No. 10-ranked Fresno Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week.  He scored his first goal of the week in a win over Westmont.  Then Alvarado scored the game-tying goal on the road at California Baptist to force overtime and then scored the game-winner in double overtime. MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER MIKE BORST ~ Concordia University Senior ~ 5-11 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Shelby Township, MI Senior goalkeeper Mike Borst posted 2 shutouts as No. 1-ranked Concordia won both of its conference games last week and remains undefeated.  Borst stopped all 8 shots on goal in 180 minutes of play in both 1-0 shutouts of Vanguard at home and Westmont on the road.  Borst now has 8 shutouts on the season and a GSAC-low .28 goals against average.  Borst was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.   VOLLEYBALL PLAYER FABIANA LEOMIL ~ Fresno Pacific University Senior ~ 5-10 ~ Outside Hitter ~ Sao Paulo, Brazil Senior outside hitter Fabiana Leomil recorded 29 kills (4.8 k/g) with a .371 hitting percentage, 15 digs (2.5 d/g), 3 aces, and 6 blocks (1 solo) as No. 1-ranked Fresno Pacific won both of its conference games and remained undefeated.  In the win at No. 6 Azusa Pacific, she had 12 kills, 2 aces, and 3 assist blocks.  In the victory over No. 2 California Baptist, Leomil had 17 kills, 11 digs, and 3 blocks (1 solo).  Leomil was named the NAIA Region II Volleyball Player of the Week. VOLLEYBALL SETTER SHU LIU ~ Fresno Pacific University Junior ~ 6-0 ~ Setter ~ Shen Yang, China Junior setter Shu Liu had 68 assists (11.3 a/g), 24 digs (4.0 d/g), 2 blocks (1 solo), and 13 kills (2.2 k/g) with a .524 hitting percentage in NAIA top-ranked Fresno Pacific's 3-game sweeps of top-10 ranked GSAC opponents.  In the win at No. 6 Azusa Pacific, Shu Liu had 35 assists, 6 kills, and 12 digs.  Against No. 2 California Baptist, she had 33 assists, 7 kills, 12 digs, and an ace.  Shu Liu was chosen as the NAIA Region II Volleyball Setter of the Week. VOLLEYBALL LIBERO TIFFANY MARINOS ~ Fresno Pacific University Sophomore ~ 5-9 ~ Libero ~ Three Rivers, California Sophomore libero Tiffany Marinos tallied 48 digs (8 d/g) against 2 top-10 NAIA teams as No. 1-ranked Fresno Pacific won both of its GSAC matches and extended its winning streak to 12 matches in the conference and 21 matches overall.  For the week, she had a serve reception percentage of 1.000 and a .931 serving percentage with 1 ace.  Marinos was selected as the NAIA Volleyball Libero of the Week.
