PLAYERCHANTAL MILLARD ~ California Baptist University Senior ~ 5-5 ~ Short Stop ~ Riverside, California Senior Chantal Millard was 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate with 3 runs, 3 walks, 4 RBI, and 2 stolen bases as No. 1-ranked California Baptist won all 4 of its GSAC games last week. In the sweep of No. 13 Vanguard, Millard was 4-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. In the wins at Concordia, she was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 steal. GSAC Champion California Baptist finished the regular season with the best winning percentage in conference play in conference history with a 23-1 record (.958). SOFTBALL PITCHERMELISSA GOMEZ ~ Point Loma Nazarene University Junior ~ 5-8 ~ RHP ~ Chino, California Junior Melissa Gomez won both of her starts last week as No. 2-ranked Point Loma Nazarene won all 4 conference games. She threw a 1-hit shutout against No. 18 Biola, striking out 5. Against No. 25 Vanguard she threw 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run. In addition, Gomez hit .429 (6-for-14) at the plate, with a double, a homerun, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. BASEBALL
PLAYERSTEPHEN KOHATSU ~ Azusa Pacific University Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Catcher ~ Covina, California Senior catcher Stephen Kohatsu homered in all 3 of Azusa Pacific's wins last week as they clinched the GSAC championship. For the week, he was 9-for-14 (.643) at the plate with 4 runs, 1 walk, 1 double, 4 home runs, and 8 RBI. In the win over Westmont, he had a double, a home run, and 3 RBI. In the doubleheader sweep of No. 17-ranked Biola, Kohatsu was 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate with 3 homers and 5 RBI. BASEBALL
PITCHERJoe Zeller ~ The Master's College Sophomore ~ 5-11 ~ RHP ~ Mission Viejo, Calif. Sophomore Joe Zeller tossed his second shutout of the season with a 4-hit, 6-strikeout gem against Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday as the Mustangs split a twinbill with the Sea Lions. It was Zeller's staff-high ninth complete game of the season and improved his record to 10-4.
