SOFTBALL PLAYER
NIKKI LOWE ~ California Baptist University
Junior ~ 5-9 ~ 3rd Base ~ Norco, California

Junior Nikki Lowe hit 7-for-16 (.438) at the plate with 6 runs, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, and 12 runs batted in as NAIA No. 1-ranked California Baptist went 5-1 for the week at the Tucson Invitational.  Lowe had 2 runs, a double, a home run, and 4 RBI in the win against Midland Lutheran NE, and she hit a grand slam in the win over Hastings NE.

MELANIE AHUMADA
~ California Baptist University
Sophomore ~ 5-6 ~ RHP ~ Yorba Linda, California
Sophomore pitcher Melanie Ahumada threw 2 no-hitters, 5 innings each, while striking out 21 batters in 12.2 innings of work last week.   In 2 complete games and 2 relief appearances, Ahumada allowed 1 hit, 2 walks, and no runs.  Currently her record is 15-1.



BASEBALL PLAYER
KIRK NIEUWENHUIS ~ Azusa Pacific University
Junior ~ 6-2 ~ Center Field ~ Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Junior Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit 9-for-16 (.563) at the plate with 7 runs, 4 doubles, a home run, 9 runs batted in, and 2 walks.  In the 2 wins at Dixie State UT, Nieuwenhuis was 7-for-12 (.583) with 4 doubles and 6 RBI.  In the win at Cal State San Marcos, he was 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI.

TIM WOODWARD ~ The Master's College
Junior ~ 6-0 ~ RHP ~ Chatsworth, California

Junior Tim Woodward pitched a complete-game 9-inning shutout in the first game of a doubleheader against Illinois Tech last week giving up 5 hits and no walks while striking out 4.  In a game at Cal State San Marcos, he gave up 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 3 in 1 inning of relief.
