The Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament seeding took until the final week of the regular season to be determined. Vanguard earned the women's regular season championship and is the top-seeded team in the women's bracket. The Lions edged out Westmont last night in a battle of GSAC powerhouses. Biola is in that powerhouse conversation as well. The Eagles beat both Vanguard and Westmont in the second half of the season by a combine 33 points.

Phoenix, AZ- Not too often can a golf team claim home course advantage but that was the case on Tuesday as Arizona Christian stormed back from four back headed into the final round to win their own ACU Spring Invitational by three.  Junior Chris Senna claimed second while Junior Nick Norton tied for third.

COSTA MESA, Calif.- The Vanguard University Lions (7-20, 5-10) had a lot to think about, making the long journey home after a fourth consecutive loss at the hands of Arizona Christian. Waiting for the Lions, were the 16th ranked Westmont College Warriors (22-6, 10-5), who handed the Lions their first loss in their four game losing streak. Stopping the skid looked like a truly daunting task on paper, but the Pride upset the odds by comfortably defeating the Warriors 87-72. Teslim Idris (SR/London, England) led the way for the Lions, scoring 19 points on the night.

COSTA MESA, Calif.- Back home following their victory against Arizona Christian, the third ranked Vanguard University Lions (26-2, 14-1) hosted the sixth ranked Westmont College Warriors (23-4, 12-3). The last time that these two GSAC powerhouses met, the Lions pulled off an upset in what was the biggest game of their season. This time, the Pride played as the favorites, with the GSAC conference championship waiting for them if they emerged victorious. In a closely fought battle that tested both teams to their very limits, the Blue and Gold prevailed in the end, winning 43-40 to be crowned GSAC conference champions.

Over two games, Shellmire recorded 43 points and 18 rebounds in 52 minutes of play. She posted a field goal percentage of .769 (10 of 13) against William Jessup. Shellmire moved within four points of tying the Westmont career scoring record (Shellmire currently has 1,383 career points). The senior ranks second in the GSAC in field goal percentage (.588), fourth in scoring (14.9 per game) and second in offensive rebounds (3.8 per game).

Patrick tallied nine hits in 14 chances, adding three walks on the week as well. The senior third baseman also recorded five RB's and four extra base hits. He was instrumental in the Lions besting The Master's 2-1 in the 3-game series.

Arizona Christian University
Patson Siame averaged a double-double last week. On Tuesday, he produced 13 points and 9 rebounds in the 63-62 upset win over GASC-leading No. 10-ranked Hope International. On Saturday, he was on beast on the boards against Vanguard as he pulled down 21 rebounds, the highest total in the GSAC and tied for second best in the NAIA this season. He also scored 19 points and produced four blocks in the 88-81 overtime win over the Lions to keep Arizona Christian in the GSAC playoff hunt.

Jerry Quemada threw six innings for San Diego Christian in the 10-5 win over Hope International. The freshman allowed six hits and four runs on four strikeouts. The Hawks went 1-0 on the week as the rest of the games were postponed due to weather conditions.
