January 7, 2008 MARK ROUSIN ~ California Baptist University Junior ~ 6-7 ~ Forward ~ Yorba Linda, California Junior Mark Roussin scored 40 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and stole the ball 7 times as No. 15-ranked California Baptist won both of its games on the road last week and remained undefeated for the season. For the week, he shot 14-for-23 (.609) from the field and 11-for-16 (.688) at the free throw line. In the win at Holy Names, Roussin registered 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. In the victory at conference opponent Fresno Pacific, he had 15 points and 9 rebounds. ERIC DURSO ~ The Master's College Senior ~ 6-5 ~ Forward ~ Simi Valley, California Senior Eric Durso recorded 2 double-doubles averaging 22 points and 12.5 rebounds as The Master's split its GSAC games last week. For the week, he shot 15-for-24 (.625) from the field, including 8-for-14 (.571) from the 3-point arc, and 6-for-7 (.857) at the free throw line. In the loss at Biola, he scored a career-high 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. In the upset of No. 9-ranked Point Loma Nazarene, Durso registered 19 points, a career-high 15 rebounds, and 4 assists. Durso has notched 7 double-doubles on the year, including the past 3 in succession. RYAN READ ~ Concordia University Senior ~ 6-2 ~ Guard ~ Vista, California Senior Ryan Read scored 43 points while shooting over 50 percent from both the field and 3-point range as No. 3-ranked Concordia won both of its conference games last week. He shot 15-for-26 (.577) from the field, including (9-for-17) .529 from the arc, and 4-for-4 at the line. In the win over No. 9 Point Loma Nazarene, Read had 22 points and 2 steals. In the win at Biola, he scored 21 points, including 15 points in a 22-3 run that Concordia used to pull away from Biola late in the game. Concordia is tied for first place in the GSAC and currently has an 11-game winning streak. JORDAN FARLEY ~ Fresno Pacific University Senior ~ 6-5 ~ Forward ~ Clovis, California Senior Jordan Farley recorded 2 double-doubles as Fresno Pacific won both of its conference games last week. For the week, he shot 14-for-20 (.700) from the field and 13-for-16 (.812) from the line. In the Sunbirds first win over Biola in La Mirada since the 1995-96 season, Farley had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals. In the win over No. 10-ranked Point Loma Nazarene, he scored 17 points and 11 rebounds. Farley currently has 7 double-doubles for the season. Fresno Pacific has won 4 consecutive games and has moved from eighth to fourth in the conference standings at the mid-point of the GSAC season. JOSH SANDERSON ~ Point Loma Nazarene University Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Guard ~ Cota de Caza, California Senior point guard Josh Sanderson scored 45 points (22.5 ppg), dished out 10 assists (5 apg), and recorded 4 steals and 3 rebounds as No. 13-ranked Point Loma Nazarene won both of its GSAC contests last week. For the week, he shot 15-for-23 (652) from the field, including 7-for-12 (.583) from 3-point range, and a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. In the win at San Diego Christian, he had 18 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. In the victory against Azusa Pacific, Sanderson scored a career-high 27 points, with 12 points in the final 5 minutes, and had 5 assists. DAVON ROBERTS ~ Azusa Pacific University Senior ~ 6-5 ~ Forward ~ West Covina, California Senior forward Davon Roberts scored 41 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and blocked 4 shots as Azusa Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week and moved into a tie for fourth place in the conference. For the week, Roberts shot 17-for-27 (.630) from the field and 7-for-10 (.700) at the line. In the win at Westmont, he had 9 points, 5 rebounds, and a season-high 3 blocks. In the upset of No. 5-ranked Concordia, Roberts notched a double-double with career highs of 32 points and 14 rebounds. He scored 21 points in the second half as the Cougars rallied from a 10-point deficit and ended the game shooting 14-for-18 (.778) from the field. DENNIS HEENAN ~ Vanguard University Sophomore ~ 6-6 ~ Forward ~ Costa Mesa, California Sophomore forward Dennis Heenan averaged 17 points and 5 rebounds as Vanguard won both of its GSAC games last week. For the week, Heenan shot 11-for-18 (.611) from the field, including 6-for-11 from 3-point range, and was 6-for-8 (.750) at the line. In the upset of No. 5-ranked Concordia on the road, Heenan had 13 points and 4 rebounds. In the win against Westmont, he tallied 21 points and 6 rebounds. RYAN ZAMROZ ~ The Master's College Junior ~ 6-4 ~ Guard ~ Perkasie, Pennsylvania Junior guard Ryan Zamroz averaged 24 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game as The Master's won both of its GSAC games last week. For the week, he shot 15-for-29 (.517) from the field, including 4-for-8 (.500) from the 3-point arc, and 14-for-15 (.933) at the line. In the upset of No. 11-ranked California Baptist, Zamroz recorded a career-high 31 points, on 9-for-15 (.600) shooting from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line, and had 7 rebounds as well. In the victory at Hope International, he had 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Master's currently has a 4-game winning streak and has won 4 games against nationally-ranked GSAC teams this season. |
