      • Brandon Gomez - Vanguard
      • Junior - 5-11 - Goalkeeper - Los Angeles, Calif.
      • Brandon Gomez notched two complete-game shutouts with five saves as No. 14-ranked Vanguard began the season with two wins last week. In the NAIA Game of the Week, the junior goalie blocked a crucial penalty kick early in the game, and the Lions went on to upset No. 8 Rocky Mountain (Mont.), 4-0.

      • Ivan Azpeita - Vanguard
      • Sophomore - 5-8 - Forward - Orange, Calif.
      • Ivan Azpeita was the leading point scorer of the week as No. 14-ranked Vanguard won both of its matches to open the season. The senior forward scored Vanguard's first goal of the year and assisted on the other goal as the Lions defeated La Sierra, 2-0. Azpeita then recorded an assist in Vanguard's upset of No. 8-ranked Rocky Mountain (Mont.), 4-0.

      • Junior - 6-2 - Goalkeeper - Mairipora, Brazil
      • Igor Puglia posted his second and third shutouts of the 2016 season during a 2-0 week for No. 11 Biola. The junior goalkeeper faced five shots-on-goal and stopped them all.
    • Offensive Player of the Week
      • Jose Hernandez - William Jessup
      • Senior - 5-9 - Midfielder - Ukiah, Calif.
      • Jose Hernandez led William Jessup in scoring with three goals in two contests last week, both 4-1 wins over the opponents. Against Warner Pacific (Ore.), the senior midfielder found the net early to put the team on the board and then added another goal and an assist for a total of five points on the day, seven for the week.

      • Junior - 5-11 - Goalkeeper - Los Angeles, Calif.
      • Brandon Gomez made two saves and gave up just one goal in No. 14-ranked Vanguard's 2-1 win against No. 21-ranked Marymount California. The junior goalie posted shutouts in the first four contests of the year and holds a 13-1 edge in goals given up. He is the anchor of a Lions defense with experience across the pitch. Vanguard is 5-0 entering GSAC play.

      • Humphrey Mahowa - The Master's
      • Junior - 5-10 - Forward - Lilongwe, Malawi
      • Humphrey Mahowa, of The Master's University, scored a hat-trick to help head coach Jim Rickard earn his 300th win. The junior forward also added two assists in that win against Bethesda.
