Softball - Mon, Mar. 3, 2014

The No. 1 Concordia Eagles hosted Tennessee Wesleyan for two games on Monday, March 3, at Eagles Field.  The Eagles won 6-1 and 7-0.

In game one Brittani McGue (JR, Modesto, CA) only allowed one hit, with five strikeouts, to improve to 9-0 on the year.  Jenna Jorgenson (SR, Laguna Niguel, CA) led the day with two home runs for five RBI.  Cori Fisher (FR, Reno, NV) also hit a rocket shot and had another hit.

There were no hits by either team through the first four innings, but Hannah Howell (SO, Citrus Heights, CA) led off the fourth with a single to left.  Jorgenson immediately followed with a bomb over the left field fence and Fisher went yard one batter later to make it 3-0.  Chanele Dresser (JR, Norwalk, CA) singled with one out in the fifth and after a walk, Jorgenson made it 6-0 with a shot over the right field fence.  Tennessee Wesleyan got one run off Susana Gurney (SO, Cypress, CA) in the seventh inning.

In game two, Stevie Goldstein (JR, Garden Grove, CA) got the start for the Eagles, going six innings allowing just two hits to improve to 2-0 in two starts.  BethAnn McCann (FR, Anaheim, CA) pitched the final inning in one-two-three order.  Howell had a double and Jorgenson stayed hot with two double baggers.  Megan Feuerstein (SO, Huntington Beach, CA) hit her first homer of the year to open up the game in the fourth.

An error opened the game for Tennessee Wesleyan and Jorgenson drove home the run with a double.  Jasmin Dresser (SO, Pico Rivera, CA) singled two runs home to make it 3-0 early.  Dresser singled with one out in the fourth and another runner reached on an error.  Feuerstein hit a three-run bomb to put the game out of reach.  Howell doubled with one out in the fifth and Jorgenson doubled again to drive her home.  Concordia pitchers only allowed runners to second base on two occasions.

Concordia ended the day 15-1 on the season, while Tennessee Wesleyan dropped to 1-9.  Next up for Concordia is GSAC action, with Hope International coming to Irvine on Saturday, March 8, for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.  Watch the live stream at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/cui.portal#.
