Fullerton, CA- After a close beginning, Hope International pulled away from Pomona-Pitzer for a 92-48 win on Monday.  Senior Andrina Rendon scored 27 points in just 22 minutes to lead the charge.  Junior Brittany Bauman accounted for 18 points.

The game started with Rendon scoring four of the first six points.  The Sagehens (7-14) answered by scoring the next six of the contest to grab an 8-4 lead.

An 8-0 run highlighted by four points from both Bauman and Junior Krystyn Jacobs pushed HIU into the lead for good with just over six minutes ticked off the clock.

Over the next four minutes, Pomona-Pitzer hung around though as they were within one at a score of 16-15.

However, Hope International ran away from there as they outscored Pomona-Pitzer 32-4 in the final nine and a half minutes of the first half.  By the time the track dust had settled, the Royals (18-5) had accounted 12 of their 48 first half points via the fast break.

Rendon outscored the Sagehens herself 20-19 in the first 20 minutes.  She delivered on 8 of 12 shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

The second half was more of the same as HIU put 44 points after the break which turned out to be the exact difference in the scoring between the teams.

Behind the combined 45 points of Rendon and Bauman (or three points less than the entire Sagehen lineup), Junior Marissa Rendon joined the fun with 13 points.  Jacobs and Junior Destiny Chavez were next with six points.

Hope International forced a season high 30 turnovers.

Head Coach Bill Crammer stated, "After a slow start, our defense took control in the latter part of the first half.  We shot better in the second half and all had an opportunity to play tonight.  Another good team win.  Thanks for the effort, Lady Royals!"

The celebration will be very short lived as they return to the hardwood in the Darling Pavilion on Tuesday for a game against Arizona Christian.  The Royals and Firestorm will tip-off at 5:30 pm.
