The NAIA No. 1 Concordia Eagles took two on Homecoming 2014 from NCAA DIII Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Eagles Field on Saturday afternoon, February 8, taking game one 1-0 and game two 14-7.

In game one, Brittani McGue started, going all seven and holding Claremont-Mudd-Scripps scoreless for her first shutout of the year.  She only allowed three hits and struck out five to go to 4-0.  Concordia scattered seven hits over the innings, with Cori Fisher and Caitrin Debaun each getting two.  Debaun doubled home the winning run in the seventh inning, as Chanele Dresser came around to cash in on a two-out single.

In the nightcap, BethAnn McCann had a rough outing for Concordia, allowing six runs.  Susana Gurney pitched two innings, earning her first win as an Eagle.  McGue finished the game, earning her first save of 2014.  Gurney and McGue each allowed three hits, and an unearned run scored against Gurney.

Concordia collected 14 hits and scored in every inning.  Jenna Jorgenson tripled and had two hits and an RBI, and Debaun and Emily Craig both homered.  Hannah Howell knocked three hits, and Nicole Chavez and Chanele Dresser each had two.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps opened the game with three runs in the first, and Concordia capitalized on an error for a run in the bottom of the first.  The Athenas scored three more in the third to make it 6-2.  The Eagles collected three singles and used an Athena error to come back with four in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.  A passed ball let Claremont-Mudd-Scripps score again in the fourth, but Craig's two-run blast in the bottom put Concordia up 10-7.  Jorgenson led off the sixth with a triple, and Chavez hit a two-run homer for the 14-7 win.

The Eagles ended the day 5-1, and the Athenas went to 0-3.  Concordia will host Embry-Riddle (AZ) on Friday, February 14, for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.  Watch the live stream at
