KANSAS CITY, Mo. – GSAC athletes Andrina Rendon of Hope International and Preston Wynne of Vanguard have been named the NAIA National Division I Women's and Men's Basketball Players of the Week respectively, the national office announced Tuesday. They were selected based on their performances from Jan. 27-Feb. 2 and were chosen out of a pool of conference and independent award winners.

Rendon, a native of Carson, Calif., recorded her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season last week. In the Royals' 82-70 win over Biola (Calif.) on Jan. 28, Rendon scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. On Feb. 2 in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Game of the Week against No. 1 Vanguard (Calif.), Rendon scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. She also recorded a game-high 14 rebounds in the Royals' 88-71 loss. For the week, Rendon shot .439 from 3-point range (6-for-14) and .762 from the charity stripe (16-of-21), while averaging 26 points, 12 rebounds and five assists per game.

Since the dawn of 2014, Rendon has notched eight-straight double-double performances, while leading the Royals to a 6-2 record and their highest ranking, No. 17, since the 1999-2000 season. She leads the team in points per game (21.55), rebounds per game (11.00), steals (44) and is second in assists (57) and blocks (12). Nationally, Rendon ranks among the top 15 in defensive rebounds per game (2nd, 8.60), points per game (4th, 21.55), total scoring (7th, 431), total rebounds per game (8th, 11.00) and total rebounds (14th, 220). She has registered 12 double-doubles on the year, good for sixth in NAIA Division I Women's Basketball.  For a complete list of the national women's basketball statistical leaders, click here.

Preston Wynne, a 6-foot-1 senior guard from Wellpinit, Wash., led the Lions to victories over two Top-25 opponents last week. On Jan. 28, he scored 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting in Vanguard's 94-79 upset of then-No. 8 Concordia (Calif.). Then, on Feb. 1, he dropped 25 points as the Lions escaped with a 72-69 overtime win over then-No. 23 Hope International (Calif.). On the week, Wynne tallied nine rebounds, five assists and two steals, while averaging 27.5 points per game. He shot .944 from the charity stripe (17-of-18) and .353 from beyond the arc (6-of-17).

On the year, Wynne leads the team in points per game (18.16). He's also the leading 3-point threat (.404) and most consistent free throw shooter (.853) on the team. Nationally, he ranks among the top 20 in 3-point field goals made per game (14th, 2.895), total 3-point field goals made (17th, 55) and free throw percentage (17th, .853).  For a complete list of all the men's national statistical leaders, click here.
