Golden State Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Daniels today announced that FOX College Sports (FCS) will televise the conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games live on Tuesday, March 11. The men's game will also be carried live by Prime Ticket.
This is the second time the GSAC has had its conference championship games televised live on a regional or national platform. It is also the second consecutive year an NAIA conference has had its championship game televised on a regional network.
The GSAC Men's Basketball Championship game will be televised live on FOX College Sports at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The GSAC Women's Basketball Championship game will be televised live on FOX College Sports at 5:00 pm Pacific Time. Both games will be produced by 35 Sports.
"Last year's games were well played and exciting basketball to watch," said Golden State Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Daniels. "It made for great television and easy to enter into this partnership once again. This relationship with FCS presents tremendous opportunities again for the Golden State Athletic Conference to gain national and regional exposure for its universities."
Allen Hopkins will handle play-by-play duties for the men's broadcast while Dave Caldwell will handle the same duties for the women's broadcast. Both announcers were on the calls for last year's championship games.
The GSAC consists of eight NAIA schools based in California and Arizona and is one of the premier conferences in the NAIA. The conference is home to the defending women's basketball national champion, Westmont College. Currently, four women's teams are ranked in the NAIA Top Twenty, including top-ranked Vanguard University, ninth-ranked The Master's College, fourteenth-ranked Westmont College and seventeenth-ranked Hope International University. Arizona Christian University, Biola University, Concordia University, and San Diego Christian College are also members of the conference. The GSAC is in its 28th year of existence.
