The Concordia Eagles and head coach Trisha Stafford-Odom got their first home win of the season on Saturday night, December 14, as they defeated Montana Western 65-57 inside CU Arena in Irvine, CA.

Brittany Stafford led Concordia with 11 points and seven rebounds, and Jade Reed chipped in 10 points and five boards.  Ashley Ellis scored nine off the bench and Carlisha Phillips had eight.  The difference in the game came at the three-point stripe, as Concordia hit six compared to four for the Bulldogs, and Concordia made four more foul shots.

Concordia led by 14 at the half, 36-22, as they used a 13-3 run towards halftime to jump to the big advantage.  Alana Allensworth hit two late threes to spark the strong finish.  Montana Western came out hot in the second half and cut the lead to two, 39-37, just five minutes in.  Concordia built it back to eight on a layup from Stafford.  The Eagles held that edge, but it was back down to three with six minutes remaining.  Ashley Engeln and Reed both hit jumpers to push it back to seven.  The Bulldogs committed a couple late turnovers and Concordia claimed the win, 65-57.

The Eagles improved to 2-4 on the season, while Western fell to 5-5 on their California trip.  Concordia is back in action on Wednesday, December 18, at 7 pm against Lindenwood-Belleville (IL).  Watch the live stream at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/cui.portal#.
