The first official 2012 NAIA Men's and Women's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI) has been released, announced by the national office September 26. In men's soccer, Concordia is the highest ranked GSAC team with a third place showing and Biola is 29th. In women's soccer, 4 teams are in the top 30 with Westmont leading the way in 11th place, followed by Concordia at 15th, Vanguard at 16th, and The Master's at 29th.
The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
The MRPI - first adopted in 2010 - will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship field for each of the NAIA men's and women's soccer tournaments. To see the complete MRPI for each sport, go to NAIA Men's Soccer and NAIA Women's Soccer.
