ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – No. 2 Vanguard took down No. 8 University of Mobile, 2-0, in the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week on Saturday at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Sophomore transfer Liliana Ruiz (Madera, Calif.) kept the Blue and Gold's perfect (5-0) record intact with her game-winning goal, while junior Lauren Terry (Corona, Calif.) and the determined Vanguard defense virtually shut-down the Rams' offense in the highly-anticipated contest.

Ruiz' goal came in the 61st minute by way of a perfect pass from junior Veronica Aguilar (Los Angeles, Calif.). Aguilar crossed the ball to the middle, where Ruiz volleyed it home to put the Pride on the scoreboard.

Fifteen minutes later, Vanguard added an own goal to its tally. The Rams' keeper, Rebecca Wynne, made the initial save off of a shot by freshman Meghan Stoll (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), but Wynne could not secure the ball and as it rolled along the goal line, a Mobile defender unintentionally knocked the ball over the plane.

2012 NAIA First Team All-American, Jordan Davidson (Tucson, Ariz.) managed a match-high five shots on the night. Three of Davidson's tries were on mark, but Wynne came up with several notable saves to hold the speedy Vanguard forward scoreless.

The Lions fired off 14 total shots in the competition and registered seven shots on frame, while Mobile managed just nine attempts with two on target.

Terry compiled both of Vanguard's saves and picked up her fifth win of the year in goal.

Vanguard's next contest is slated for September 20 at Bethesda (2:00pm).
