GULF SHORES, Ala. – Playing just over 24 hours after their previous match, the No. 8-ranked Lions (2-3) squared off against the University of Mobile, currently the No. 11-ranked team in the NAIA. Vanguard controlled the contest and took home a 3-0 victory over the Rams, who have not defeated the Blue and Gold going back to 2008. Ayanna Suarez (FR/Indio, CA) led the way with four points with Emily Miramontes (FR/Fullerton, CA) adding three and Megan Clentzos two.

The freshmen had an outstanding day on the field for the Pride as Suarez scored a pair of goals in the first half, less than three minutes apart from each other. The first strike was finished by Suarez with 6:13 remaining in the first half off a throw in by Chletnzos to the head of Suarez. With 3:34 on the clock, Miramontes found the feet of Suarez who took one dribble before firing far post. Vanguard was the aggressor for the whole contest as they put three of six shots on goal compared to two total attempts for the Rams in the first 45 minutes of play. The Pride held a slight  3-2 edge in corner kicks and Amanda Valentine (JR/Livermore, CA) came up with a pair of saves.

In the second half, Vanguard continued the assault on the goal coming up with seven more shot attempts, four being on target. Miramontes added two more points to her total as she scored a header off Chlentzos' deep throw in. Valentine stopped four more shots in the second half to earn her second shutout of the season. For the contest, Mobile was whistled for 10 fouls to eight calls on the Lions.
