Phoenix, AZ - Arizona Christian and Sophomore Marisa Ortiz dominated Mills College as the Firestorm won 8-0 on Saturday.  Ortiz scored five goals against the Cyclones -- tying the ACU single-game goals mark.  The Firestorm out-shot the Cyclones 38-0.

Just 34 seconds into the contest, Freshman Hanna Perez unloaded the first shot of the game at the Reach 11 Sports Complex.

A minute later, a corner kick resulted in Sophomore Sarah Carrell and Freshman Sarahie Torres using a couple of one touches before serving across a ball that found the head of Ortiz who knocked home the first goal.

Eight minutes later, Carrell served a corner kick directly into the box that connected with Perez who put her first collegiate goal into the net.

The next two minutes saw the Firestorm (3-2) produce a goal per minute.  Ortiz scored in the 11th minute assisted by Torres and Freshman Hannah Matthews.  In the 12th minute, Matthews was in behind the defense in a 1-on-1 situation and found Sophomore Kylie Neafus trailing on the play and Neafus put away her second goal of the season.  Before 12 minutes expired off the clock, ACU held a 4-0 lead.

Ortiz netted the next two goals for the hat trick plus one as the Firestorm extended out to a 6-0 lead.  Freshman Veronica Cruz, Senior Tasha Coleman, and Matthews were credited with assists on the goals.

In the 31st minute, Freshman Lesly Perez left a perfect ball off for Neafus above the left corner of the box and Neafus launched a shot under the crossbar for the 7-0 edge.  For Neafus that was her second goal of the game and third of the season.

At the break, ACU held a 25-0 shot advantage over the Cyclones (0-2).

The ACU bench played the majority of the second half and had several chances (11 shots in 35 minutes) including Freshman Irene Ledezma and Torres both sending shots off the post but could not add to the goal tally.

Ortiz and company subbed back in for the final 12ish minutes.  In the 88th minute, a foul outside the box allowed Ortiz to bend her fifth goal of the game into the upper left corner of the net.  With the goal, Ortiz tied Chelsea Ruland (2011-14) for the single game mark of five goals.  Ortiz now stands six goals behind Ruland for first place on the all-time ACU list.

On Tuesday, the Firestorm will head north to face off with No. 20 Embry-Riddle.  ACU will enjoy playing in cooler evening weather as game time is set for 5:00 pm.
