Pasadena, CA - Arizona Christian opened their first California road trip of the season with a 6-1 win over Providence Christian on Thursday night.  Senior Roberto Valenzuela scored the first two goals while Junior Brian Booker and Freshman Diego Robles both scored and dished out an assist.

Just under four minutes in the contest, Valenzuela hit a strike that found the back of the net for a 1-0 edge.

The Sea Beggars (2-3) controlled a two minute stretch that resulted in four shots and a corner kick.  On the corner kick, PCC stuck the game tying effort into the goal less than 14 minutes into action.

Following missed shots by Juniors Luis Bobadilla (wide) and Anthony Archuleta (saved), Valenzuela put a nice finish on a shot and the Firestorm (3-1) grabbed the 2-1 lead at the 21:29 mark.

With under five minutes to play until the break, Booker found himself in behind the Providence Christian defense and played a ball across to Robles who buried the one timer for his first collegiate goal.

About 2:30 minutes later, Booker once again broke loose behind the defense creating a 1-on-1 opportunity and Booker did not disappoint as he chalked up his second goal of the season.  The final stat of the first half moved ACU out to a 4-1 advantage.

ACU held a 12-9 edge in shots after 45 minutes of play.

The Firestorm were just getting warmed up as they would take 16 shots in the second half.

Chances were plenty for Arizona Christian including a shot off the post by Sophomore Alex Segura and the crossbar by Archuleta but they could not capitalize again until the 73rd minute.  Sophomore Damian Sanchez used one touch to stick a feed from Robles inside the framework for a 5-1 lead.  With under five minutes to play, Freshman Edwin Garcia tucked a shot into the bottom corner of the goal for his first ACU goal and the final tally of 6-1.

Junior Chris Garcia went the distance in goal while recording three saves.

Head Coach Andrew Belleman commented, "We started the game very frantic but the bench did a great job coming in and settling us down.  The whole team responded well in the second half as we were able to control the game during that time."

The Firestorm will continue their road trip with a game at Soka in Aliso Viejo on Saturday.  First whistle is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
