ATHERTON, Calif. – Menlo College Men's Soccer got back to its winning ways on Thursday afternoon in non-conference play against the Simpson University Red Hawks. Menlo controlled the pace for the vast majority of the contest and held a decisive advantage in total shots and time spent in the attacking third. Those two factors led to the lopsided final score of 6-0 and Menlo's second win of the season. The Oaks improved to 2-2-1 while Simpson fell to 0-3.

The first half saw the Oaks score in the 14th minute of action when Eric Hegmann drove home his team-leading fifth goal of the season off the assist from Franco Varga. Menlo had a number of chances for the remainder of the half, 18 to be exact, but they would not tally another goal until late in the period. The second and final goal of the first half came in the 45th minute, with just 45 seconds remaining when Franco Varga broke away and knocked in an unassisted goal for his first of the season. When the half came to a close, Menlo held an 18-1 advantage in total shots and a 9-0 advantage in shots on frame.

The second half saw Menlo score early and often, posting a season-best four goal half. It all got started in the 49th minute when Evan Snodgrass scored his first career goal at Menlo College off the dual assist from Jose Fimbres and Fernando Menera. The assist was the first of his career for Fimbres and the third for Menera. Eric Hegmann added one more in the 58th minute, his sixth of the season, for his second multi-goal game of the campaign. The fifth goal was the first of the season for Ike Arinze. Arinze was subbed into the action for a corner kick and scored within five seconds of stepping foot on the field. The assist went to Leonardo Barcellos, his first of the season. The sixth and final goal of the match was scored in the 81st minute off the foot of William Sandvik.
