Phoenix, AZ - Arizona Christian needed just over an hour to blow past Ottawa (AZ) 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-20) on Wednesday night.  The team shared just one tie the entire match.  Senior Toria Siemens recorded six kills on .429 hitting.

Two errors by the Spirit (1-2) followed by two service aces from Senior Hailey Carpenter gave the Firestorm (7-2) a 4-0 cushion.  Building as large as a seven point advantage, ACU cruised to the set win.

Junior Jackie Stein delivered five of the 11 ACU first set kills.

Set two was all Arizona Christian as they opened the set with a 10-0 run and never looked back.  ACU forced OUAZ into 12 hitting errors in the middle set including six errors in the opening ten points.

Junior Breanna Scott notched three kills on four attacks without an error in the set.

A block by Siemens and Carpenter started the third set.  A service error by the Firestorm created a 1-1 tie- the lone tie of the match.  But a service error, bad set, and attack error by the Spirit gave ACU a 4-1 lead which they enjoyed the rest of the night.

Stein topped with eight kills and was one of three Firestorm (Carpenter and Senior Morgan Stevens) with nine digs.  Scott, Sophomore Amanda Bakonyi, and Freshman Kaitlyn Streltzoff all accounted for four kills.  Carpenter gave out 25 assists.

Head Coach Micah Briscoe stated, "We came out of the gate a little slow and progressively improved each set which resulted in only one attacking error while hitting .306 as a team in the last set. We put a lot of girls on the court and it really showed our depth and maturity as a competitive program. Everyone on the team knows our goals and where we want to go so we are trying to use every match to the fullest to prepare us for our conference matches."

On Friday, the Firestorm will host Embry-Riddle (AZ) at 6:00 pm.
