ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warriors wrapped up their stay at the Simpson Volleyball Classic taking on their toughest opponent in the University of Oregon Tech Owls but came ready to play resulting in a 3-1 (27-27, 14-25, 25-16, 25-17) advantage to extend their win streak to four and improve to 7-2 overall.
"Going into the match today we knew that Oregon Tech would be tough," head coach Shasta Millhollin said. "They are a very well coached team with a lot of size, experience, and athleticism. Our main focus today was to serve tough and side out quickly."
With a total 8 aces in comparison to the Owls four, returners Taylor Jacky (4), Jessica Williams (3) and Kacey Berger (1) proved to test the defense from the back line.
Adding to the points column was Jacky leading the offensive force at the net with 14 kills and teammates Danielle Schoen (12) and Sydney Molander (11) adding their double-digits as well.
"We beautifully executed in both areas! Our offense really began to click today too which is something we have been waiting for," said Millhollin.
Defensively the Warriors out blocked OIT with 9 total stuffs by Vendela Williams (4), Schoen (3) and Kassidy Heuvelhorst (2) tripling the Owls efforts of 3.
Reflecting on the day, Millhollin concluded, "The most important thing that happened today is that our team continued to embrace our WE>me motto. Everyone on our team had each other's back every single point. Both our bench and the players on the court were focused on every point. As a coach, that's everything!"
The Warriors will host a scrimmage against Chico State on Thursday, August 31st at 4 pm before hitting the road to conference opponent Menlo for a two-day tournament on September 1st-2nd.
