Costa Mesa, CA - Playing a rainout makeup game on the neutral field of Vanguard on Thursday, Freshman Trevor McGee was brilliant in a complete game win against William Jessup as Arizona Christian won 8-1.

The Warriors (6-22, 1-16 GSAC) produced two singles in the first inning.  In the second, WJU's Joey Torres singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give William Jessup a 1-0 lead.

But after the Torres single, McGee allowed just two more base runners the rest of the game as he retired 24 of the last 26 batters including 15 Warriors in a row at one point.  McGee struck out six as he improved to 3-2 on the season.

After putting just one runner on base in first two innings, Juniors Matt Mara and Michael Dunnebecke doubled back-to-back (Mara was thrown out trying to score on Dunnebecke's double).  Dunnebecke scored on a single to center by Junior Marco Castilla to tie the score at 1-1.

One inning later, Junior Jonathan Nunnally, Jr. nailed his tenth home run of the season to give ACU a lead that they would enjoy the rest of the game.  Senior Landon Teramoto walked and later scored when Dunnebecke walked with the bases loaded.

In the seventh, the Firestorm (19-15, 10-10 GSAC) added two more runs on a RBI from Nunnally and sacrifice fly off the bat of Junior Kyle Robbins.

Senior Hector Ortiz singled, moved up on walk by Nunnally, stole third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Senior Jacob Rodriguez.  Sophomore Trent Troncone stepped up and drilled his first collegiate home run to score Rodriguez and tally the final two runs of the game.

The Firestorm will stay right there in Costa Mesa to begin a three game series on Friday against Vanguard.  First pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
