The 2016 GSAC Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, November 5 and will be hosted by William Jessup University at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin, California. The women's 5-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8k at 10 a.m.
All GSAC men's and women's teams will compete in the event with the winning team of each race advancing to the NAIA National Cross Country Championships, which will be held November 19 at North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Illinois. Other teams and/or individual runners could also receive berths to the national event.
The NAIA No. 2-ranked Biola women are looking to defend their 2015 GSAC title, which would be their fifth in seven years. The Eagles will be challenged by No. 6 The Master's, which has finished second at the last three conference meets. The Mustangs will seeking their first GSAC title. Also battling for a top finish will be No. 15 Westmont. The Warriors have 11 championships under their belts since the GSAC began, with the most recent first-place finish in 2014.
The No. 5-ranked Biola men will try to earn their first-ever GSAC Championship and dethrone No. 12 The Master's, which has won the last six conference meets. The Westmont men, which is ranked No. 8, will also contend for the top spot as they hope to earn their first title since 2009, fifth overall.
