With the regular season coming to a close, the Golden State Athletic Conference is pleased to announce Zach Hunt of Vanguard University and Morgan Pedrick of The Master's University were selected as the Cross Country Runners of the Month for October.

Hunt showed great improvement as he competed in two races for Vanguard in the month of October.  The senior from Sparks, Nev., placed 5th with a time of 25:59 at the Vanguard Invitational 8K race held at Irvine Regional Park on October 8.

Less than two weeks later, Hunt finished as the top runner for the Lions and the GSAC and 6th overall in a field of more than 140 runners at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational.  His time of 25:01 was a personal record for Hunt and nearly a minute faster than the race earlier in the month.

Pedrick led the Mustangs in both races during the month.  The senior Santa Clarita native finished in 4th place with a time of 17:58 in The Mustang Challenge 5K race at Central Park in her hometown hosted by The Master's University.

In the women's 5K race at the Titan Invitational on October 21, Pedrick finished in 6th with a time of 17:54.  She led her team to a second place finish in the eight-team event.

All GSAC cross country runners are looking ahead to the Conference Meet on Saturday, November 5, which will be hosted by William Jessup at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin, California.  The women's race will begin at 9:00 am, followed by the men's race at 10:00 am.
