Phoenix, AZ - Freshman Juan Mora continues to impress as he delivered both Arizona Christian goals in a 2-1 win over College of Idaho on Saturday afternoon.

After a rather uneventful first eight plus minutes of soccer, Mora made the first stat of the match count.  Senior Nicholas Palomares stole the ball on the defensive side of midfield and found Mora across the midfield stripe.  With no one near him, Mora took a touch or two and let a shot fly from about 35 yards out which found nothing but the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead.

Play picked up in the last 35 minutes of first half action but neither team could finish off another goal.  At the break the score remained 1-0 ACU though the Yotes (1-1) out the Firestorm (1-1) 7-6 in the first 45 minutes.

The teams exchanged shots and a few yellow cards but ACU remained in front as the match headed in the 70th minute.  That changed when a foul in the box gave College of Idaho a penalty kick which they converted to tie the score at 1-1.

Over the next ten minutes, the Yotes saw two of their players both earn their second yellow cards resulting in red cards to give ACU a two player advantage.  The second "red" gave the Firestorm a penalty kick of their own.  Mora stepped up and scored the PK for a 2-1 lead.

ACU attempted three more shots versus just one for COI in the final 10 minutes and secured their first win of the 2016 season.

Director of Soccer Alan Berrios commented, "It was good to get our first win of the season today against a quality opponent.  The team worked hard and earned the win.  Five freshman were in the starting eleven and gained quality experience.  We still have a lot to do.  However, the team is motivated and committed to work hard in order to compete in a tough conference schedule this season."

Next the Firestorm head out for two match trip to California opening with Bethesda University at the Santa Ana Stadium on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
