Senior outside hitter Fei Gao has been selected a 2012 Third Team Capital One Academic All-American. The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® volleyball team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.
- To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
- Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). In baseball and softball, pitchers must have at least 10.0 innings pitched. Athletes who have not participated in at least 50 percent of their team's contests are not eligible.
Gao, a two-year starter at Concordia from Qingdao, China, has a 3.85 GPA and is majoring in business administration. Gao is the fourth Concordia athlete to earn the prestigious national honor after the program was extended in 2011 (Bekah Garvin – Women's Soccer – 2011, Katie Carson – Softball – 2012, Alyssa Erickson – Softball – 2012, Alicia Lucatero – Softball – 2012). Gao was the only player from a GSAC school selected to the team.
