COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard, which already boasted a program-best 16 victories, an undefeated (10-0) conference slate, and a regular season GSAC title. added a GSAC Tournament Championship Trophy by downing Biola, 2-1, in the tournament title game at Vanguard Friday afternoon.

The NAIA No. 4-ranked Lions controlled the pace from the outset and at 8:11 the tenacity paid off, as the usual suspects struck to post Vanguard's first goal of the contest. Senior Lindsey Holman-Kelley threaded the needle to hit junior Jordan Davidson (right) on the sprint, who quickly shot the ball up and over Biola's approaching sophomore keeper Briana Williams.

The goal marked Davidson's 16th in 16 games as a Lion. She is the current GSAC leader in points, points per game, goals and goal per game.

Senior Lauren Skachenko had a good look at 38:20, however, Biola dodged a bullet when she sent it just wide to keep the match within a point going into the break.

The Pride outshot the Eagles 10-2 in the opening period and managed four attempts on goal. Both of Biola's tries were on target, but sophomore goaltender Lauren Terry stopped them both for Vanguard.

At the 64:50 mark junior Kayla Arenas (left) recorded her 10th of the year to put the Blue and Gold up by a pair. Arenas' shot deflected off a Biola defender and Williams appeared to misgauge its trajectory, overrunning the ball as it snuck into the net.

Biola's Stephanie Cubias (lower right) closed the margin to one at 72:30 on a rebound from a Terry block that she put into the back of the net before Terry could recover from her dive.

The Eagles' Cubias had a legitimate attempt to tie the match at 77:14 but Terry registered a brilliant save to safeguard the Lions' lead.

Vanguard had not allowed goal since its last game against the Eagles on October 13th.

The Lions have won 12 straight and move to 16-2 overall.

Vanguard awaits the release of the NAIA opening round pairings to see who its next opponent will be. The announcement will occur on Monday, November 12.
