Fullerton, CA- Hope International Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Jeff Benito as their new Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. Coach Benito comes to the Royals after a three year successful tenure at fellow NAIA school McPherson College in Kansas.
Athletic Director John Turek commented, "We are very excited about the hiring of our new Tennis Coach- Jeff Benito. He brings a wealth of experience at the NAIA level and is a proven winner. Jeff was extremely successful at his former school McPherson College and we feel very confident Jeff's winning formula will bring HIU Tennis to a new level of success."
Coach Benito stated, "I would like to thank Hope International University for the opportunity to become their next tennis coach. Hope competes in arguably the toughest conference in the NAIA and I look forward to that challenge. I am eager to get started working with the student-athletes to get the Royals on the national stage."
His long list of accomplishments leading McPherson include three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) season runner-ups and conference tournament finalist on the men's side and a KCAC regular season and conference tournament championship in 2014 with the women's team. The accolades of his players include 5 NAIA All-Americans, 16 All-KCAC honors, and 3 Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship and Leadership Award recipients. Coach Benito was twice named the KCAC Coach of the Year. However, the award that he is most proud of is both of his teams earning NAIA Scholar Team Honors in 2013 and 2014.
In coming back to California, Coach Benito returns to his home roots where he served as the Head Coach at Cypress College for four years (four time Conference Coach of the Year and 2011 Doubles State Champions) and Riverside Community College for four years as well (three CCCAA All-Americans).
