IRVINE, Calif. – San Diego Christian defeated No. 12 Biola, 5-3, for its second win in the GSAC Softball Tournament.

The Hawks were able to defeat Reba DePriest, the GSAC Pitcher of the Year, and hand her just the second loss of the season. DePriest went seven innings giving up five runs, three earned, six hits while striking out eight. Josie Tucker grabbed the win for the Hawks as she improved to 10-9 on the season allowing four hits, three runs, none earned, and striking out two.

San Diego Christian crossed the plate in the top of the first with a Morgan Wheeler single to center field that scored Cathryn Petty. The Hawks exploded for three runs in the third. Krystal Hoham delivered a 2 RBI single to second base scoring Tucker and Morgan McGee for a 3-0 lead. Savanna Baggett then reached on a fielding error by the first baseman and Wheeler came in to score to end the scoring.


Biola answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to two and tallied a run in the fourth as San Diego Christian led 4-3 heading into the fifth. The Hawks grabbed an insurance run in the sixth as Tucker shut the Eagles down the last two innings not allowing a hit.


Tiffany Fox was busy in right field as she collected six fly ball outs. Tucker led the Hawks with two hits and Hoham had a team-high 2 RBI.
