The Golden State Athletic Conference is pleased to welcome Arizona Christian University to the league for the 2012-13 season.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be accepted for membership in what we believe to be the premiere athletic conference in the NAIA – the Golden State Athletic Conference," said Len Munsil, President of Arizona Christian University. "We are excited about this opportunity to establish a new relationship with colleges who not only share our Christ-centered mission, but have also set a standard for athletic excellence that we hope to emulate."
The Firestorm sponsor 13 sports, five each for men and women, and bring the GSAC membership total to eight institutions. Men's and women's sports include cross country, soccer, basketball, tennis and golf, as well as baseball for the men and volleyball and softball for the women.
The university is located in the scenic Paradise Valley area, twelve miles north of downtown Phoenix. Fultz Memorial Gymnasium, located in the Student Activity Center in the middle of campus, houses the basketball and volleyball teams. Nearby Rose Mofford Sports Complex is the home soccer field, and the nationally-recognized Moon Valley Country Club is the course used by men's and women's golf. In addition, the university is currently constructing an on-campus baseball field.
"We are pleased to have Arizona Christian University compete in the GSAC as its eighth member. ACU is a growing university that will be competitive in the league," said GSAC Commissioner Mike Daniels.
