EL CAJON, Calif. – Andrew Robles collected two assists and Cameron Riley recorded his first shutout of the year as the San Diego Christian men's soccer team defeated Whittier College 3-0 Saturday for their first win of the season.

Robles set up the first goal of the game as he laid off the ball to teammate Victor Flores in the box. Flores stayed composed and slid the ball in the lower right hand corner of the net for his second goal of the season and gave the Hawks a 1-0 edge 24 minutes into the game.

Robles's second assist came at the 68:22 mark in the game as he waited for Juan Maffey to join him in the 18-yard box. Robles dribbled and made the goalie commit to him before Robles found a wide-open Maffey to increase their lead to 2-0.

Maffey returned the favor with six minutes left in the game. He played a through ball to the running Moises Parada. Parada was all alone with the goalkeeper and made a move to get around Jorge Rivas to notch his first goal of the early season.

San Diego Christian outshot Whittier 8-5 in the game. Riley recorded four saves. Whittier was given a red card at the 50:03 mark and had to play the rest of the game down a man.

The Hawks are back in action on Sept. 9 as they travel to Bethesda University. The Hawks next home match is Sept. 14 against Southern Nazarene University (OK).  Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
