GSAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK KERRA SUTTON-WODARSKI ~ Point Loma Nazarene University Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Guard ~ Oregon City, Oregon Junior Kerra Sutton-Wodarski recorded 37 points (18.5 ppg), 14 rebounds (7.0 rpg), 6 assists, and 3 steals as No. 17 Point Loma Nazarene registered 2 double-digit come-from-behind wins in GSAC play last week. In a 1-point overtime-win at California Baptist, she had 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. She had 13 points in the second half, including 4 of Point Loma's 7 overtime points. Sutton-Wodarski led the Sea Lions to a win over No. 10 The Master's, with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. She scored the go-ahead jumper as the Sea Lions came back from an 18-point deficit to win. Point Loma remains undefeated in GSAC play and tied for first place in the conference. NICOLE DAVIS ~ California Baptist University Sophomore ~ 5-8 ~ Guard ~ Riverside, California Sophomore guard Nicole Davis tallied 46 points (23.0 ppg), 11 assists (5.5 a/g), 8 rebounds, and 5 steals as California Baptist defeated both of its GSAC opponents last week. For the week, Davis shot 17-for-34 (.500) from the field, including 9-for-17 (.530) from the 3-point arc, and 3-for-6 (.500) at the line. In the 1-point win against Hope International, she had 19 points including 5 3-pointers, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. In the victory at No. 15-ranked The Master's, Davis recorded 27 points, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. JESSICA RICHTER ~ Vanguard University Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Guard ~ Oregon City, Oregon Junior guard Jessica Richter registered 49 points (24.5 ppg), 13 rebounds (6.5 rpg), 9 steals and 4 assists as Vanguard won both its GSAC games last week and remains undefeated. In the win over No. 10-ranked Point Loma Nazarene which broke the tie for the first place in the GSAC, Richter recorded a double-double, with 23 points and 10 rebounds, and had 5 steals. In the win at Biola, she had 26 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Vanguard currently has a 35-game winning streak in regular-season GSAC games. MONICA SOMERS ~ Azusa Pacific University Senior ~ 5-8 ~ Guard ~ San Luis Obispo, California Senior guard Monica Somers scored 58 points (29.0 ppg) and tallied 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals as No. 16-ranked Azusa Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week. For the week, Somers was 18-for-35 (.514) from the field, including 6-for-11 (.545) from 3-point range, and 16-for-21 (.762) at the line. In the win at Biola, she had 16 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. In the victory over No. 11-ranked Point Loma Nazarene, Somers scored a career-high 42 points, including 4 3-pointers and shot 12-for-13 (.923) at the line. Somers is Azusa Pacific's career leader in free throws made and attempted and has moved into fourth place on the Cougar career scoring charts. Azusa Pacific is undefeated in 10 home games and has now won 14 of its past 15 games. ALI MOOTY ~ Westmont College Sophomore ~ 6-1 ~ Forward/Post ~ Edina, Minnesota Sophomore Ali Mooty recorded 2 double-doubles with 55 points (27.5 ppg) and 28 rebounds (14.0 rpg) as Westmont split its GSAC games last week. For the week, Mooty shot 21-for-36 (.583) from the field, including 1-for-1 at 3-point range, and 12-for-19 (.632) at the line. In the loss at No. 15-ranked Azusa Pacific, she scored 25 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and collected 3 steals. In the win over San Diego Christian, she scored 30 points on 12-for-14 (.857) shooting and pulled down 15 rebounds. With collegiate games in her resume', Mooty is now the Westmont career record holder in scoring average (15.7) and rebounding (8.5) and is second in field goal percentage (.509). JESSICA RICHTER ~ Vanguard University Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Guard ~ Oregon City, Oregon Junior Jessica Richter earned player of the week honors for the second time this season by averaging 26 points and 4.5 steals per game last week as No. 1-ranked Vanguard won both of its games and remained undefeated this season. For the week, Richter shot 20-for-30 (.667) from the field, including 5-for-10 (.500) from 3-point range, and a perfect 7-for-7 at the line. In the win against Concordia, she had 22 points, 6 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. In the victory at Westmont, Richter tallied 30 points, 3 steals, and an assist. Richter leads the GSAC with 4.67 steals per game in conference games and 4.0 overall. Vanguard leads the NAIA with a +27.7 scoring margin and is second nationally in scoring offense (85.3 ppg), rebounding margin (+10.45 rpg), and team assists (20.5 apg). LACEY BURNS ~ Vanguard University Senior ~ 5-10 ~ Guard/Forward ~ San Clemente, California Senior Lacey Burns scored 39 points (19.5 ppg), dished out 12 assists (6.0 apg), grabbed 8 rebounds (4.0 rpg) and nabbed 5 steals as No. 1-ranked Vanguard won both of its GSAC contests last week and continued its 22-game winning streak. For the week, Burns was 12-for-22 (.545) from the field, including 9-for-17 (.529) from 3-point range, and 6-for-6 at the line. In the win against San Diego Christian, she had 21 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds . In the victory at No. 12-ranked Azusa Pacific, Burns recorded 18 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Burns is currently the second leading scorer for the Lions this season. NICOLE DAVIS ~ Sophomore ~ 5-8 ~ Guard ~ Riverside, California Sophomore guard Nicole Davis scored 57 points (28.5 ppg), dished out 19 assists (9.5 apg), tallied 12 steals, and grabbed 9 rebounds as California Baptist won both of its GSAC games last week. For the week, she was 23-for-40 (.575) from the field, including 2 made 3-pointers, and 9-for-12 (.750) at the line. In the win at San Diego Christian, she had 26 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds. In the victory over No. 12-ranked Azusa Pacific, Davis registered a triple-double with 31 points, 10 assists, and 10 steals. Davis was selected as the NAIA Division I Women's Player of the Week. |
