Westmont's Russell Smelley has been honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with its 2014 Coach of Character Award. Smelley is in his 36th year as head coach for Westmont's track and field and cross country teams.

Merced, CA- Hope International closed out their road trip to Northern California with a 2-1 overtime win over UC Merced on Monday.  Senior Shahram Aghayousef turned his second goal in as many games into the golden goal game winner.

William Jessup University
Haleigh Lamping recorded two shutouts and had 13 saves in 191 minutes for William Jessup last week. The freshman goalkeeper kept a very tough NCAA Division II San Francisco State scoreless for 101 minutes while recording 10 saves in the Warrior's 1-0 double overtime victory. Lamping also had three saves against Simpson. William Jessup is currently on a four-game winning streak.

Madison Cody recorded a hat-trick against Bethesda, while also dishing out two assists to her teammates. The junior forward tallied eight points in the game to bring her season total to 14.

Biola University
Stephen Tanquary scored one goal in each game last week as Biola won both of its non-conference match-ups. The junior forward scored game-winning goal against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) in the 87th minute. He has recorded four goals in the last four games for the Eagles.

Amy Weststeyn hit above .400 in both of her performances as No. 6 Biola started the conference season with two wins against No. 17 Vanguard and Hope International. For the week, she averaged 3.7 kills with a .442 hitting percentage. The senior middle blocker was the only Eagle to notch double-digit kills in both contests, and she added 11 blocks (2 solo) to her tally for the week. Weststeyn was involved in all but five of the Eagles' blocks. She added three aces and was flawless on the serve.

Michael Kute is excelling at center-back for Biola, keeping opponents from finding ways to attack in Biola's box. The senior defender helped hold Antelope Valley to just four shots the entire game, and his defense kept Our Lady of the Lake from posting many quality chances, keeping just about half their shots from being shots on goal.
